INFANT MASSAGE

A special form of communication that enriches the parent-child bond through contact.

Children are mirrors; they will always show you exactly what is going on inside of you.

Vimala McClure

Infant massage is an ancient tradition found in many countries and consisting in a particular form of communication stimulating and protecting the development of a child. It is a simple and effective tool to enhance children’s well-being, stimulating their vital systems and providing relief in case of minor ailments. The course is certified by A.I.M.I. Associazione Italiana Massaggio Infantile (Italian Infant Massage Association) and is aimed at parents with children up to 12 months old. It is articulated into 5 weekly sessions attended by the mother, father or both parents and their child. Each practices massage with their own child in a welcoming and respectful environment, following the teacher’s directions who will demonstrate the techniques on a doll. Each session will be devoted to massaging a specific part of the body, and at the end of the course you will have the tools to independently practice the entire sequence, a special experience to be repeated with your child during her/his development. Beyond massage techniques the course also offers: moments of reflection on the parent-child bond, specific massage techniques to soothe colics, social occasions to compare notes, development and support in the art of parenthood.

The Italian Association of Infant Massage is part of the International Association of Infant Massage whose goal is to encourage contact and communication through courses, training and research, so that parents, children and those who care for them are loved, respected and valued by the entire world community. www.aimionline.it
